AMH - Ovarian Reserve Testing

Ovarian Reserve testing in the assessment of age-related infertility:
the role of AMH

BeckmanCoulter will release their new CE marked generation assay in Spring2010. To date there have been two versions of the AMH Elisa assay (theDSL kit and the Immunotech kit). They have both been supplied byBeckman Coulter, but they are standardised differently and they givedifferent results. TDL has always used the DSL kit reporting in pmol/L.

Thenew generation assay will be reported clearly, with a comment in thebody of the report, covering the reporting differences, so that directcomparison can be easily made for previous results and those measuredwith the new generation assay.

AMH seems to be the mostappropriate serum marker of ovarian reserve and for assessingfertility. It can be taken any time, and is not influenced by themenstrual cycle.
